1.TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes) name for thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber. Mainly divided into polyester type and polyether type, it has a wide range of hardness (60HA-85HD), wear-resistant, oil-resistant, transparent, good elasticity, in daily necessities, sporting goods, toys, decorative materials and other fields have been widely used, halogen-free flame-retardant TPU can also be used instead of soft PVC in order to meet more and more areas of environmental protection requirements.

Wide range of hardness: by changing the ratio of the reaction components of TPU, you can get different hardness products, and with the increase in hardness, its products still maintain good elasticity and wear resistance.


High mechanical strength: TPU products have outstanding load-bearing capacity, impact resistance and shock absorption.


Outstanding cold resistance: TPU's glass transition temperature is relatively low, at -35 degrees Celsius still maintains good elasticity, flexibility and other physical properties.


TPU as an elastomer is a material between rubber and plastic, which is seen from its rigidity, the rigidity of TPU can be measured by the modulus of elasticity. The modulus of elasticity of rubber is usually in the range of 1~10Mpa, TPU is in the range of 10~1000Mpa, and plastics (nylon, ABS, PC, POM) are in the range of 1000~10000Mpa. The hardness range of TPU is quite wide, from Shore A 60~Shore D 80, and it has high elasticity in the whole hardness range; TPU has flexibility in the wide range of temperatures, from -40~120℃, without the need to be changed. TPU is flexible over a wide temperature range from -40 to 120°C without the need for plasticizers; TPU has good resistance to oils (mineral oils, animal and vegetable fats and lubricants) and many solvents; TPU also has good weathering resistance and excellent resistance to high-energy radiation. Well-known abrasion resistance, tear resistance, flexural strength are excellent; high tensile strength, elongation, long-term compression permanent deformation rate is low, etc. are the significant advantages of TPU.


TPU properties introduced here include three aspects: mechanical properties, physical properties and environmental performance. 1.


1. Mechanical properties: TPU elastomer mechanical properties mainly include: hardness, tensile strength, compression, tear strength, resilience and wear resistance, flexural disturbance resistance, etc., while the mechanical properties of TPU elastic plastics, in addition to these properties, there are higher shear strength and impact power.


(a) Hardness: hardness is an indicator of a material's ability to resist deformation, scoring and scratching, TPU hardness is usually measured by Shore A (Shore A) and Shore D (shore D) hardness tester, Shore A is used for softer TPUs, Shore D is used for harder TPUs. hardness is mainly determined by the content of hard segments in the structure of the TPU, the higher the content of the hard segments, the hardness of the TPU will rise with. Hardness is mainly determined by the content of hard segments in the TPU structure. After the hardness rises, other properties of TPU will also change, tensile modulus and tear strength increases, rigidity and compressive stress (load capacity) increases, elongation decreases, density and dynamic heat generation increases, and environmental resistance increases. the hardness of the TPU and the temperature of the existence of a certain relationship. TPU plastic material

4, flexural properties

5、Hydrolysis resistance


TPU in the turbid water resistance is good, 1 ~ 2 years will not occur significantly hydrolyzed, especially with the polyether series is better. Polyester series in 50 ℃ water immersion for half a year or 70 ℃ immersion 3 weeks or 100 ℃ immersion 3 ~ 4 days, will be completely decomposed, which is suitable for TPU as an environmentally friendly materials, one of the reasons, need to be in regular contact with water products, it is recommended to use the polyether series.


6, high temperature and oxidation resistance


General plastic raw materials are easy to oxidize in the environment above 70 ℃ for a long time, TPU antioxidant ability is good; generally speaking, TPU temperature resistance up to 120 ℃.


7, oil and drug resistance


TPU is a strong polar polymer materials, and non-polar mineral oil affinity is very small, in the fuel oil (such as kerosene, gasoline) and mechanical oils (such as hydraulic oil, oil, lubricants, etc.) in the almost non-erosion; which, TPU products and polyester series of products with oil resistance is better; TPU film and sheet for the volume of oil and grease changes are very small, tensile strength is even higher than the original initial value; need to be careful! It should be noted that if there is a small amount of water in the mineral oil, it will have different degrees of negative impact on the physical properties of the film.


8, low temperature performance


TPU has very good low-temperature resistance, usually up to -50 ℃, can replace the general PVC due to low-temperature embrittlement and can not be applied in various fields, especially suitable for use in the cold zone related to the type of products.
